Ok, ok.....I know it's been a month since my last posts but here is why......

This is step 1 in the Peace, Love, Quilt mystery quilt by Love Shack Quilts and also.....

This is the quilt I made for my daughter for the bed in her camper!!

This is a closer look at the center. She wanted some type of beach scene and this is what she got!!!

If nothing don't happen, I will once again do at least a weekly blog of something!

Bye for now,

September 11 2016

You know you are addicted to quilting when you are camping out near RIR and working on Dear Jane quilts until time for the race! That is exactly what I did last night before we headed to the bleachers!!

Today....Remembering 9/11 and praying for the families for all of those who lost their lives trying to save and protect all of us!

We have a great nation and I am proud to call America my home......the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE!!

Never, never forget!

August 29 2016

Hey Everyone!

Today I have been working on my daughters quilt. I have most of the blocks sewn together to make rows. I matching stitch the front and hand stitch the back. I do it this way because I am doing the quilt as you go method. I have 3 rows to finish hand sewing together and once that is done I can place them together by design and measure the size needed for the beach/ocean scene in the middle. I can't wait to show y'all once I get it completed.

I didn't get a chance to post a picture of the Sew Sampler box I received Friday so here it is.....

The contents are as follows:

Sun drops Jolly Bar - 42 - 5" x 10" cuts of 100% cotton fabric
The Jolly Bar Book Vol. 1 from the Fat Quarter Shop
Quilters Perfect Stick Klips - perfect way to hang quilts - 5 clips with 6 pieces of stick tape
The Binding Tool - a must have tool for every quilter. It helps reduce the bulk.
Bobbin Nest - Never lose or chase around a bobbin in you sewing space again. Stores up to 30 bobbins.
The surprise bonus was the sewing nook box (that's what I call it)

If you are interested in getting a Sew Sampler Box each month, go to FatQuarterShop.com and subscribe.

I will have more for you tomorrow as time permits.

Have a wonderful day!

August 28 2016

Hey everyone!

Friday, I went to the Quilt Guild and I had a wonderful time! The ladies there are so wonderful...I can't explain in words what they are truly like!

We all normally work on something different..some work on embroidered blocks for quilts, some work on patten blocks, some help others with hand quilting tips and tricks, some work on binding....I work on Dear Jane blocks and help others when needed. Like today, I helped one of our ladies put the bobbin in a matching she was unfamiliar with. I also had a little show and tell for today since I did not attend last week due to going to Hotlanta to watch my Braves play ball.

I have finally finished hand quilting all the blocks for my daughters quilt and have begun sewing the blocks into rows as you can see on my previous blog. My goal for the upcoming week is to get all the rows sewn together so I can determine what size the beach/ocean scene in the center will be. Then I will cut all the material for that and sew it together and it will be stitched in the ditch for quilting on this particular piece. I really want this done before she goes to the mountains in September for her fall vacation.

I don't know how much I will get done on the quilt today as I have other tasks that I must get done as I have put them off long enough and now I really have no choice but to get them done and no....they have nothing to do with sewing or quilting....dang it!! I had rather be doing that stuff then doing the things I have put off. I love to procrastinate when it comes to something besides being in my happy place.

I received my first box from the Fat Quarter Shop!!!!!  I love the Sew Sampler box! It has a lot of need stuff in it and it's well worth the monthly subscription.......I am glad my husband subscribed to them for me.......it made me HAPPY!!!!! If I get a chance, I will post a picture of the contents at the end.

August 24, 2016

Hey everyone!

What am I working on today?

I am working on my daughters quilt for her camper. It is going to have 2 rows around the ocean scene. The rows are made from various materials and I chose the Garlic Knot Block for the design. So, I guess this will be today's biggest advanture for me.

I have to take my time due to the increase in dizziness that I have gotten since the vertigo incident. I still do not believe I am over it or I have more fluid floating in and around my brain then we know about. If I can hag out til March of 2017, we will fine out from my scheduled MRI. If not I will have it done sooner.

Time to go back to the sewing machine!!

More pics to come later!!

August 23, 2016

Well folks......one more thing on my bucket list completed!!!

My oldest daughter bought my husband and me tickets to go and watch the Atlanta Braves play ball in Turner Field this past weekend for my birthday!!

As soon as I walked into Turner Field, I was so happy that tears were flying. I have been wanting to go to Turner Field for as long as I can remember and especially this year, since it was the last season there. My daughter made my dream come true. She also got us a motel room for Friday and Saturday night at the Hyatt-Regiency Hotel only 10 minutes from the field. It was so much fun watching the game. I know....they lost Saturday night, but it's ok....I got to watch them play ball!!!

I also carried my Dear Jane blocks and worked on a couple when ever we were in the room. Most of the time we were downstairs on the balcony where we met a lot of great people and laughed both nights. We had a really great time and I would definitely do it again!!!

Today I am working on my daughters quilt. I have almost completed the hand quilting of all the blocks and then I will work on the beach scene for the center. I will definitely posts pics of the center when I begin working on it.

I will post pics of Atlanta and Dear Jane later in the week!

Good Night eveyone!

August 18, 2016

I know....I know....its been a long time since I have posted anything....but.....I have actually been busy. I have been working on my daughters quilt. I am now hand quilting all the Garlic Knot Blocks, and I am doing them a quilt-as-you-go style. Once these are finished, will begin the beach scene which is the center focal point of the quilt.

I have also been helping my youngest daughter get ready to head off to college for her sophomore year.

My oldest daughter has purchased her a 5th wheel camper and I have tried to help her as much as I possibly can. She is planning a trip to the beach soon for its madden voyage.

My hubby had new tires on the SUV yesterday for our trip to Hotlanta to see the Braves play. He also put a window motor in the drivers side door so the window can go up and down.

I will be taking my Dear Jane block patterns and fabric with me so that I can work on them while in the hotel. By the way, clothes are packed!!! I'm excited!!

Until next time!

July 27 2016

Hey everyone!

I know it's been a while since my last post, but a lot has gone on and I haven't taken the time to post anything.

I finally got over the vertigo (thank goodness)! My husband was nice enough to take me 7 hrs away to see my parents for the first time since April. I truly enjoyed the time with them. My mom took time to teach me a few things about quilting and my Dad always has interesting stories to tell!

I have been working on crocheting caps for the Duke Cancer Center's free hat program for those who are going through chemo. I really close friend is battling Melanoma and she told our church about the hat program, so a group of us have gotten together most every Monday evening and crochet or knit together. She has already delivered over 800 hats and caps and now we are stooting for 1000.

I have also been working on blocks for my daughter's quilt that she wants for her camper. Of course the bed in the 40' 5th wheel is queen size......

Here is a couple of pics for your entertainment!!!!!

Have a great day and hopefully more to come!!!

June 30, 2016 #2

My very first Garlic Knot Block! Took me almost all day because of this aggravating vertigo mess!

Maybe more to come! What do y'all think? Let me know!!!

June 30, 2016

Yet another day fighting this vertigo....I want to sew really bad! I did order the electronic version of Dear Jane and it will be here tomorrow. I think this will help me understand some of the blocks a little better and I have a friend that will help me as well. I want to go to the quilt group meeting tomorrow but because of the drunk feeling with movement I can't go. Last Friday was my first time meeting with them and it was great!!! I miss them already. Hopefully I can go next week. I have also found out there is one in the town next to me that meets on Tuesdays. I may check that one out too when I get better.
I will write more later if I feel better!

June 29, 2016

I have been fighting vertigo since Sunday. I don't like it, never had it before and never want it again!! I can't do anything. I want to sew and I can't because I feel so drunk. Maybe in a couple of days I can get back to it. I have so much to show and tell! See ya soon!

June 9 2016

Well folks...I've been working on different things lately. I am almost done with the Watermelon Wall Quilt. (Designed by Patricia  Knoechel and purchased from Quilt in a Day)

I have to get the backing, batting, and binding on then I can begin adding the buttons as seeds and hand quilt.

I've also been trying to teach my youngest daughter how to sew. I was amazed the other night when she wanted to learn how to "make" stuff! She is 19 and will start her sophomore year at college in August.

I don't know how long it will take me to finish the Wall Quilt because I can only do so much before I give out and it takes me much longer to complete a project. I will add pictures so y'all can see what I have done so far.

Thanks!!

So...what have I been up to lately?

Well...I've been crocheting beanie hats for the Duke Cancer Center Belk Boutique and here is a pic of what I have done so far.....

It's a real pleasure to do something for someone in need!

Today---I shall sew!

Pics coming later this evening or in the morning!!!

April 10, 2016

I know it's been a while but things are happening around here. I have spent most of the week cleaning and re-arranging and re-organizing my sign/sewing and now craft room. It takes me longer to do things now do to my memory issues and muscle weakness. I can work on something for about 15 -20 minutes at a time and then I must sit down and rest a while. Then when I get back up to do some more work, I forget what I was doing so I start on something else. The reason I moved my "craft room" to the sign/sewing room, is because it was taken over my kitchen area and I couldn't handle it anymore.

As far as the sign room, I own Optimum Graphics which is a vinyl sign shop. We do signs, banners, and decals of all types, but my husband and daughter now do all the work because I can't remember how to operate the program and design software. Maybe tomorrow or in the near future I will explain what has gone on with me over the past 2 1/2 years.

Hope everyone has a good night! Talk to you soon!!!

March 23, 2016

Another OK day. I worked on one of the baby blankets today, embroidering the names and then  cutting the batting and backing for one of them. Because I have to do I on the floor, it wore me out. So, I took a nap. When I woke up, my oldest daughter was outside working in the yard so I joined her. We broke up some places in the yard and re-sewed it and then broke up the chicken yard (she did all the physical work, I watched). After all of that was done, we came in and ate supper that my husband had fixed and watched a little YouTube. Now getting ready to spend the rest of the night watch some TV.
Hope y'all have a great night!!!

March 22, 2016

The day started out good....but then I got word that someone close to my heart had died in a car accident last night. She was only 20 years old. I have prayed all day and will continue to pray.

After I got myself back together, I started back on working on the baby quilts. I have one front completed other than the name and the second one, I have to finish the appliqué then the name. I hope to finish that up tomorrow. I will just have to see how tomorrow goes to determine if I can stay focused enough to complete the task. I will explain this deal in another blog.

I have started this blog to keep up with what I do on a daily basses because of my short term memory loss.

I hope y'all enjoy reading my daily life and thanks,
